How CoastalArch handles visitor data.
Last updated: June 2024
1. What This Site Collects
CoastalArch is a static informational site. It does not operate user accounts, e-commerce functionality or any server-side data collection mechanism. The site does not store personally identifiable information on a server under its direct control.
Contact Form
The contact form on the About page operates as a client-side simulation. When a visitor submits the form, the data is not transmitted to any server or email address. The fields are cleared after submission and no record of the submission is retained beyond the visitor's own browser session. The form exists solely to demonstrate the expected interface behaviour of a contact mechanism and to allow visitors to note their query for their own reference.
Cookies
This site uses a single first-party cookie stored in the visitor's browser via the localStorage API. Its sole purpose is to record whether the visitor has responded to the cookie consent banner (accepting or rejecting). No tracking, advertising or analytics cookies are set by this site.
Analytics
If third-party analytics are deployed on this domain (such as anonymised server-level access logging), the data collected is limited to standard access log fields: page URL, referrer URL, browser type, operating system and IP address. No cross-site tracking identifiers are associated with these records. Anonymised access log data is retained for a standard operational period consistent with routine server maintenance.
2. Third-Party Content
This site loads images directly from Wikimedia Commons (upload.wikimedia.org). When a visitor's browser requests these images, a connection is made to Wikimedia Foundation servers, which may log the request in accordance with the Wikimedia Foundation Privacy Policy. CoastalArch does not control this logging and is not responsible for data handling by the Wikimedia Foundation.
This site loads typography via Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). When a visitor's browser requests font files, a connection is made to Google servers subject to Google's Privacy Policy. CoastalArch does not control this connection.
3. External Links
Links to external sites — including the Paradores de España website, UNESCO documentation and Spanish government heritage registries — are provided for reference. CoastalArch is not responsible for the privacy practices of external sites. Visitors should review the privacy policies of any external site they visit.
4. Data Subject Rights (GDPR)
To the extent that EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provisions apply to this site, visitors have the right to request information about any personal data held in relation to their use of the site, request correction or deletion of such data, and object to processing. Since this site does not collect or store personal data through its own infrastructure (see section 1 above), most requests under these provisions will be addressed by confirming that no personal data is held.
For data processed by third parties (Wikimedia Foundation, Google Fonts), requests should be directed to those organisations directly.
5. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated to reflect changes in site functionality or applicable legal requirements. The date shown at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after a revision constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
6. Disclaimer
The content on CoastalArch is provided for informational purposes only. While reasonable care has been taken to ensure accuracy, no warranty is made as to the completeness, currency or fitness for any particular purpose of the information presented. Architectural and heritage information should be verified against primary sources before being relied upon for professional or academic purposes.
